The Social Science Computing Group is working on scraping the hyperlink-based interconnection network of the popular wiki subpages of fandom.com.
Tried and tested on wikis related to television series, here is a linking network of 140 subpages about characters related to popular TV-series.
If one were to use such fandom.com based wiki data, it is possible to collect data on other topics as well.
Please contact sscub@krtk.hu or adatkeres@krtk.hu with such requests.
An updated Data Access Policy is available on the KRTK Databank's website. Access to data is according to agreements with datahosts.
Furthermore, according to the agreement with the HUN-REN KRTK Databank, databases can solely be used under those research projects/topics that specify the given database in the request form and in the agreement.
If the use of the same database is necessary in another research project, please remember in that case that a new data request and filled agreement form is required.
We have received the anonymised serial numbers (tax identification numbers) of the children indicated in the tax return form, retroactively to 2021. These variables are now available on the NAV SZJA database.
This new database is available in the Databank, with server access. Personal income tax returns submitted to the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) include personal income tax, simplified public contribution and social contribution tax. The database is available for the years 2015 and between 2019-2022 in separate files per year, with a linkable identifier. The databases include everyone who has filed a personal income tax return, meaning that it is a 100% sample. The set of variables was selected based on the NAV form. We tried to include all main information, thus, hundreds of variables are available per year.
The following topics have been updated with data for 2022:
Important information:
State of the databases of years 2021, 2022 are on a temporary stage as linking the KIRSTAT data to instituions (and their settlements) caused a difficulty due to the transformation of the vocational training sector. Variables merged from Kirstat can be found in the NABC databases although many of the cases have missing values (where could not merge) and it is also important to keep in mind: where cases are not missing (successful merge) there is still an uncertainty if the merge was correct by the variables omid and telephely.
The completion rate of the student background questionnaires dropped drastically compared to previous years! NABC tests are filled out digitally since the year 2022. Variables of the new measurement areas – science, language tests – can be found on the databases.
The existing, detailed event-level football match data are now combined with historical bookmaker odds data, so that we could attach market-estimated, - fairly accurate - odds estimates to the matches played.
As a complementary source, similar event-level (less detailed) play-by-play data for NBA basketball games are available, including odds data as well.
The GVH price-watch has been collecting data for over 4 months, where 363 000 recorded shop prices for 1 900 products have been collected so far.
The NAV Corporate Data 2022 files are now available and ready for research in the Databank. The Corporate Data contains the main data from the balance sheet and profit and loss account of companies subject to corporate tax reporting.
The anonymised Labour Force Survey of the third quarter of 2023 is now available on the Databank servers and in the Research Room until. The survey provides information on economic activity (employment and unemployment) of the population - people living in households.
The second quarter of 2023 datafile has also been updated, with the addition of next wave’s transfer status and labour market status harmonised variables.
Applications for admission to higher education (Felvi) have been updated for the year 2023. Major changes affecting higher education will be visible in the databases of the following year (2024), yet a new variable (emelt) has been added to the institutional level data to indicate whether a given faculty’s course requires an advanced level school-leaving certification. For information on faculty changes, see the documentation.

For users of the Research Room
Background. The Research Room (RR) is jointly operated by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (CSO) and the Databank of the Center for Economic and Regional Sciences (CERS). The CCTV controlled RR is available for projects led by researchers of the CERS and the Center for Social Sciences. Other researchers are also eligible as approved project participants, including assistants. Any output produced in the RR must go through an output checking procedure conducted by the CSO. Copying data from the servers and computer screens is strictly forbidden.
Access for referees. In case a referee wants to check the data and the computations, the Databank starts a Referee Project in which the referee acts as a project participant. The referee can work in the RR personally or by hiring a local assistant. The required data will be uploaded to the personal folder of the referee. The name of the referees and assistants are kept confidential and will not be shared with the authors.
Access for replication. The person willing to replicate the results can join the author’s project and attend the RR in person.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For server users
Background. In the case of several datasets, the Databank is not authorized to share the data with third parties. In these cases, we ensure access for referees and replicants in the following ways.
Access for referees. In case a referee wants to check the data and the computations, the Databank opens a Referee Folder at one of its servers. The required data will be uploaded to this folder; the referee can work with them on-line and request the Databank to copy and send the output to her/him. The name of the referee will be kept confidential and will not be shared with the authors. Copying the data and sharing them with a third party is strictly forbidden. Referees can initiate the opening of a folder by writing to adatkeres@krtk.mta.hu.
Access for replication. The person willing to replicate the results can require access to the data by contacting the authors. The authors can initiate the inclusion of the replicant to their project.
For further information, contact the Databank: adatkeres@krtk.mta.hu

For empirical territorial research concerning Hungary, the Statistical Database System of Settlements (T-STAR – Hungarian acronym) is the information source with the richest content and the highest level of territorial breakdown. The T-STAR has been managed by the Hun-garian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) since 1975. The T-STAR is an electronic database, existing only in computer files. The system described here is standardized and controlled by The Institute of Economics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (IEHAS). It con-tains all the settlement level data collected or received by the HCSO in yearly breakdown from 1990 onwards. Some data from the Popula-tion Census 1990 and 2001 that was processed at settlement level and the so called number sign system of the HCSO are also inte-grated into T-STAR.
The Hungarian Labour Force Survey (HU-LFS) is a continuous, quarterly survey of households conducted by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO). It provides information on the employment and unemployment experience of the Hungarian’s population. The HU-LFS contains demographic characteristics of each respondent, and a wide range of data on labour market status and related topics such as training, qualifications, disability. The data set contains data of 60,000-90,000 people, depending on year and quarter. The database is accessible from 1th quarter 1992 to 1th quarter 2012 in harmonised format.
